Resume Writing Framework & Examples

Executive Resumes

Two sets of eyes view resumes: Recruiters, Executive Search Firms, and Hiring Managers. Our framework speaks to both and connects the dots that you are perfect for the role at the top of your resume. It includes:

  • Executive or Leadership Impact Brief (Career Snapshot)-Top strengths, top career metrics,  proven track verbiage that aligns to the job you are applying to.  These top metrics will justify the salary you seek (see example below).
  • We include a cover letter separately or in your resume (since 80% of cover letters are never read). Separate cover letters often get lost in the applicant tracking system, and recruiters go straight to the resumes. We can also add it to the resume, which saves an hour of prep time. By including this with your "Areas of Strength & Effectiveness,"- it acts as both the cover letter and a 1-page resume.  You will have both options.

Military Resume

  • Professional experience with metrics that justify your salary and a proven track record. Bolded topics for users to quickly find what they need and metrics that speak to your best results.
  • Education, professional organizations, certifications, etc.
  • Recommendations—We use recommendations from LinkedIn, letters of recommendation, or performance review comments that speak to your abilities and offer social proof that you are as great as you say.

What you can expect when branding your resume.

  1. You fill out a discovery form.
  2. Submit your current resume in a .docx form (1 column/not 2 columns).
  3. We rebuild your resume in our template. We might send back before our branding session to get key info if missing.
  4. Meet for 1-2 hours in a branding session with an executive coach to get key metrics and unique strengths carved into a career snapshot (Executive Impact Brief) at the top of your resume.
  5. Give back at 95% finished, and you fine-tune it, and send the final back for our records.
  6. We give you LinkedIn instructions to go step-by-step to mirror your resume work on your LinkedIn to be recruiter-ready.
